Pokedex Entry: Clatoid were believed to have been the ancestor of common day Spinarak, Paras, Skorupi and Bachuru. They had no venom, therefore, they developed large claws for protection. Later, as groups of these were split off from one another, they evolved to either have poison or other forms of defense.

Pokedex Entry: The large Vorpatoid was the evolved form of Clatoid. When a Clatoid brought its territory to a considerable size, it usually became more aggressive in nature and would evolve into the Vorpatoid to better defend its home. Vorpatoid are believed to be the ancestors of evolved forms of Clatoid's descendants such as Ariados, Parasect, Drapion, and Denchura.
